As the MoPub team looks to help more mobile app publishers effectively monetize their products, we wanted to turn our attention to one of our first beta testers.  Andrew Johnson of TrailBehind, Inc. was looking to manage the advertising strategy for his suite of iPhone and Android applications, which include Gaia GPS , Topo Maps and partner application EarthNC Marine Maps.  In particular, he wanted to experiment with different ad networks and track the conversions from his free app to the paid app so that he could calculate and optimize the revenue across all of his products.  Andrew approached us in September when we launched our beta product and MoPub provided a perfect fit for his needs.

EarthNC, Inc launched their EarthNC Marine Maps for Android  (based on the TrailBehind app plactform) after less than an hour of integration work.  They have since been able to experiment with geotargeting ads from various networks and are looking to test custom ads for in-app purchases, full-screen campaigns, and ads that drive users to rate the app in order to increase distribution.  Next up, they are planning on rolling out MoPub to their other iPhone and Android apps.

After seeing the results, Andrew says, “I think they have the right idea.  This was exactly what I had wanted in my mind, and it appeared out of the blue. They are also ex-Google, and you can see that in the philosophy and design of the software.”  We are glad to be able to help out TrailBehind and all of the publishers on the MoPub platform.  Their help in the beta program has been crucial and we’re excited to incorporate their feedback for the full release in the near future.
