This past weekend, MoPub had its first birthday! I thought I’d start by thanking all of our publishers, their mobile users, MoPub partners, investors, and of course friends and family that have helped us achieve what we have so far. We could not have made it without all your support.

Last summer, I was writing apps for the iPhone working on a couple of ideas and even shipped a couple of them to the AppStore. I wanted to experiment with monetization in a tasteful way – does an interstitial or a particular ad network work better than others? What about affiliate referrals or house ads? I found that there was no tool out there that let me do this type of basic experimentation that I had been accustomed to being able to do at Google. This was the genesis of MoPub. I wanted to start a company that could change the way mobile advertising worked for the better – to help publishers make more money, with less effort while preserving and even improving the user experience.

Over the past year we’ve grown the team, launched our product and gotten a bunch of publishers live with MoPub and happily monetizing their applications. Here’s a quick snapshot of what MoPub looks like one year later:

  • Launched out of Beta in February
  • Over 350 publishers serving 1.5+ billion monthly impressions
  • Raised Series A funding from Accel Partners and Harrison Metal
  • Two offices, one in San Francisco and one in New York
  • 20+ employees and growing by the day!

I wanted to say a heartfelt thanks to everyone who has helped us get this far and most importantly to the team for creating such an amazing company. We’re fortunate to have made it this far and I am very proud of what we’ve all been able to accomplish in only a year. Here’s to the next one and many more after that!
