MoPub FAQ

Updated September 2016

What Operating Systems and platforms does MoPub support?
MoPub supports iOS, Android, and Mobile Web.

How do I get approved for Marketplace?
To be approved for Marketplace, please email policy@mopub.com with up-to-date payment information and the corresponding Android package name/iTunes App Store URL/website URL linked to your MoPub App. For faster approval, please include screenshots of the app in your admin page or in your website’s admin page to show that you are the owner of the account.

How do I integrate third-party ad networks? What are my options?
For third-party ad networks, you can integrate through server-to-server, as a custom native network, or as a custom network. Here is a list of supported ad networks and ad formats. You can add unsupported ad networks as custom native networks through a custom event.

  • Server-to-Server: To integrate server-to-server networks, simply add them in our UI under the ‘Networks’ tab and input the required values. Server-to-server works on Mobile Web as well as in-app and does not require any SDK or adapter integration. Supported server-side networks are listed on our Supported Mediation page.
  • Custom Native Network: To integrate third party ad networks as custom native networks for apps, please see the documentation on our GitHub here. These integrations do not work for Mobile Web and are only available for iOS and Android apps as they require SDK integration.

It looks like some elements of the MoPub UI are broken. I can’t do a lot of things because these things are missing: If you are using AdBlock, AdBlock breaks a number of elements in our UI. It’s recommended that you set an exception on AdBlock for MoPub or pause it when you use the website.

I’m testing MoPub but I’m not seeing any ads / I am only seeing test ads
If you have no active ad sources in your ad unit, you should get approved for Marketplace and add third-party ad networks.
If you have active ad sources but are not getting any ads, please take a look at the log cat logs/device console logs of the ad request being made when your device is connected and running the app. It will provide error messaging from MoPub.

I’m seeing the error message “No ads found for ad unit” in my device logs. Why?
The error you are seeing indicates that there is no fill for your ad unit, rather than a technical issue. We recommend creating a backfill line item with test creative to ensure that you always have fill.

Why isn’t my integration working?
If you have no active ad sources in your ad unit, you should get approved for Marketplace and add third-party ad networks.
Make sure you are using the latest version of the MoPub SDK for iOS and Android, as older versions of the SDK do not offer support for all features. Additionally, make sure you are using a certified partner SDK. Uncertified versions may not be supported by our SDK.If you are still having trouble, please reach out to support@mopub.com with your account username, ad unit ID, MoPub SDK version, partner SDK version and full device logs. The Support Team will help you review your integration.

What tax forms do I need to fill out?

I want to maximize my revenue with Marketplace. What do I need to do?
You can set up higher priority Marketplace line items with a higher price floor to get first look at higher eCPM ads and then have default Marketplace with a low price floor serve the remnant inventory.

It is recommended that you separate your segments by geo and assign eCPM by geo. These two things will increase your CPMs with Marketplace. The Marketplace line item should be a higher priority. Default Marketplace priority is 12, with 1 being the highest priority. A good number here is usually 6, so you can serve promotional or direct serve ads at a higher priority if needed. This will net you more revenue, as there is more specific targeting for your ad networks; and Marketplace can bid higher against higher eCPM geos from the higher set network eCPMs. Remember to close the “Status:Running” filter when editing segments. Newly created segments will also override the Global Segment if it is targeted to the same inventory, so be aware of how you set this up.We also have a video-only option for fullscreen ads you can explore, which net higher CPMs than regular interstitials. You can set this up by creating a Marketplace line item, setting video only in the Settings of the line item, and target it to a fullscreen ad unit.We also offer Native ads which can outperform banners by offering a native feel in your app that generally works very well in list and feed type apps.

Can I create custom ad unit sizes within MoPub?
Yes, you can upload custom sized creatives by selecting “custom” as the ad format when setting up an ad unit. However, it’s recommended to reserve custom ad units for your guaranteed/direct sold campaigns, as not all ad networks or marketplace demand partners have inventory for custom sizes.

I want to mediate MoPub through AdMob/DFP? How do I do this? Please check out our documentation on mediating MoPub here for step by step instructions.
